There’s something that stands out to me about Bobby being so involved in Buck’s rehab process, especially after 7x08.

We know that Bobby started drinking as a child after his father’s death and then got addicted to pain medication after a back injury.

Do you think he ever looks at Buck and is worried that one day, he too will sustain an injury that will be too much? That he’ll follow his own father figure into an undesired pain management regiment the way Bobby did with his own father? Especially due to the severity of Buck’s injuries?

Do you think after the truck bombing, when he was helping Buck with rehab, he was also, knowingly or not (we know from throughout the series he isn’t always aware of how he treats Buck/treats him differently), keeping track of Buck’s meds, not wanting Buck to be in pain, of course, but wanting to be sure he’s not stepping over the line of no return the way he once did?

Because whether or not, he was able to admit to himself back then, Buck is his kid and if Bobby followed in his father’s footsteps, then I imagine it’s not far off to say that a part of Bobby’s subconscious desperately wanted to insure that his son doesn’t follow in his footsteps as well, you know?
